Daughter number 2, who is delighted with Trump’s win, has been hugely entertained by the various meltdown videos that have been posted about the return of The Orange Cthulhu™.
Trump may not behave in a presidential manner, but I'm quite OK with that. I'd much rather a leader with a sense of humour who seemed like an ordinary if slightly goofy bloke, than say, Keir Starmer. Starmer clearly sees himself as a great leader when in fact has has the charisma of a fire hydrant, and he emanates danger to those of us who are not in his club.
It's the men and women who behave in a presidential manner...Clinton (Bill and Hilary), Obama, Macron, Starmer et al who've got us into our current mess. "Presidential" to me now means "Fake, bogus, likely psychopathic and definitely dangerous". To hell with them.
And the best deranged leftist take on Trump that I've seen so far is this one.
"Voters are too stupid to even, like, exist in the world...they're just morons who can't understand anything."
That tells you what the elites actually think of the rest of us. They hold us in contempt, and I must say the feeling is mutual. I would so like to give that bloke a boxing lesson.
YES, YES, YES and did I say, "YES"? My husband and I have often said what fun it would be to sit down and have a meal with Donald Trump. He doesn't drink alcohol, nor do we, but we'd still have a blast and we wouldn't have to parse our words or worry about offending him. He may be a billionaire, but he understands working people...and more importantly, he likes us. And that is why over 70,000,000 Americans, black, white, gay, straight, men, women, etc came out to support him. We all see a little bit of ourselves in him. He speaks TO us, not down to us.
It is really funny. My daughters and I have been laughing uproariously at the emails we get (being surrounded by liberals) about shared communal grief and trauma. And here’s the thing, since this was a vibes election. Elite, measured, “presidential” people today give off the vibe that they think the rest of us are garbage (even if they’re not saying it outright). In fact, they are nervous about speaking openly because they might accidentally say the quiet part out loud— whereas we get the sense that Trump is the guy who can mock everybody because he doesn’t really have any deeply felt prejudices. We don’t really believe he hates women, or cripples, or Puerto Ricans. And it’s not something you can really understand unless you’re not a smug elite yourself.
It is funny, but it's also kind of sad. How did 'we' manage to produce so many broken people who cannot control or properly cope with their emotions?
I was thinking about this again today - back in the day we used to use something like the phrase "lined up against the wall and shot" as a way of expressing disapproval. So you might say that anyone who voted for X should be lined up (etc). It was *entirely* understood that nobody meant this *literally* and it was just rhetoric to express disapproval. It was entirely understood to be a sardonic joke.
Today? A comment like this would have all the trauma and grief hunters shrieking in the aisles.
I saw Trump speak at Bitcoin 2024 (I am not one to normally watch entire speeches by politicians). Was very clear to me then - he's an entertainer. He feeds off the crowd. He ad libs a whole lot.
Was one point, he said, "On my first day in office, I will fire Gary Gensler." There was a huge roar from the crowd, the bitcoin community hates Gensler... but most of the rest of America hardly thinks about him. I'm sure someone else wrote that line for Trump. Trump was clearly surprised, said "well, I didn't know he was that unpopular. Let me say it again. On my first day in office, I will fire Gary Gensler!" And it matters. I think he'll remember that crowd reaction.
My view (rightly or wrongly) is that to properly understand Trump you have to separate his public rhetoric from what I suspect will be an entirely different approach in private meetings where serious things are discussed and decided upon.
He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy (at least when he's in full-on Trump mode during one of his speeches). I actually quite like that. Given the choice between listening to Starmer or Trump for an hour, which would you pick?
My favourite over-reaction was hyper-inflated, has - done - nothing Oprah claiming that if Trump won it would be your last chance to vote.
I knew Trump would win. I told a liberal golfing buddy that Trump would get between 286 and 320 Electoral Votes. I was a little overly optimistic but I was in the range because I buy my own groceries and I was unburdened by Kamala’s obvious lies.
This web site, and its visitors, seem like a rather cheerful lot. I suppose that if you are not hungry or sick or an alien or in some other way a transgressor against tyrannical American norms, you HAVE THE LUXURY TO LAUGH ABOUT THE ELECTION. For some of us, the election of Der Fuhrer Trump approximates the death knell of the railroads taking Jews to the camps. You may think trump is just an expressive, comical man who simply vents a lot and emotes to excess. Ah, but don't you know that Hitler had been deemed a harmless comical "little corporal" -- until of course he starting seizing territories outside of Germany.
Please sample this and get a taste of how New Yorkers think of Trump's win:
Thanks for the counterpoint David - always good to get an alternative perspective. I am, naturally, not persuaded, but I do appreciate the effort.
I'm going to swim in dangerous waters here, but because you've brought up Hitler and his regime's horrific crimes, I'm going to try a doggy paddle.
Do you not see *any* parallel at all between your demonization of half of America and the demonization of Jews throughout the centuries which reached its terrible apotheosis during Hitler's regime?
It's not a perfect parallel and maybe not even a particularly close one, of course it isn't, but do you not see the same underlying problem here in the attempt to vilify a whole group of people in this way?
Yes, we can have a laugh at the emotional incontinence on display in all of the meltdown videos over Trump's win, but it's also rather sad. There's a lot of people who have been broken by the very distortions you promote in your article. He called for Liz Cheney to be shot? Really? I'm sorry, David, but that's a woeful misunderstanding of what he actually said. Yet here you are, trotting it out as if it's fact - and we wonder why so many people are having meltdowns and (in my view) getting Trump all wrong.
America seems to be a very divided country (my assessment from across the pond in the UK) but it's the Democrats who have divided it by pursuing an identity-driven agenda that has carved the place up into 'good' and 'bad' in the minds of many. I don't think a typical Democrat would even call some MAGA folk "very fine people" eh?
Although I suppose Trump would classify as being one of those "very fined people".
But here's the thing - the Democrats made this too much about Trump and not enough about what positive change they were going to make for the American people. This election wasn't really about Trump. Oh he's the figurehead who is an embodiment of the things a lot of people care about, sure. But ultimately this was about who they thought was going to make their lives *better* and be able to fix the many problems. You see the difference here?
Trump and his team said health, wealth, immigration, government overreach and bloated bureaucracy, national debt, inflation, bringing peace.
Harris and her team said Trump Bad
You may disagree with what Trump was/is planning for all these things - but the issues on the table were plain to see. I still don't know what Harris was about or what her policy focus was.
one day we shall wake from woke and celebrate our differences by poking fun at them and not automatically assume affront virtue signal disgust but realise that it's fun from a place of caring and celebration not bullying and belittlement
Pretty much that, yes. Your blokes down the pub. Trump being the guy who talks big, walks big, and can only be small in private. Also the guy that steps in when things go too far, using his bigness to get people to take it down a notch before some gets a dart in the skull. Or chin. Or shin or cheek for that matter.
(Pint no.2 make mine a half-and-half)
Nasty things, darts. Was it Leeds' supporters that were notorious for bringing fistfuls of darts to matches, tossing them at their counterparts?
Anyway.
(Babycham? No thanks, mate, I'm good for pint no.3, Hobgoblin this time I think)
Harris, letting her be the avatar of her side, is akin to the 45-year old recently divorced woman with kids out on the prowl for some sausage, out with her woman friends, too drunk to realise she is too drunk, and for intentions reminding people of a flock of gulls at low tide.
(Bathroom-break, would yeh get another round in eh, and some chips and vinegar, right?)
(At age 19, I sometimes filled in as doorman, standing guard over the girls in wardrobe - and Teh Horr0r #1 wasn't violent men, but 40+ divorced women getting fresh with guys half their age. Inappropriate grabbing of crotches were among the mildest offences we had to deal with.)
Where was I?
(Ta' mate, just what I needed, pint of bitter to clean the palate)
Roight, we wuz 'bout to sing bawd songs, weren't we ladz? "Aaaaaa wizard's staff's got a knob on the end..."
(I c'n walk meself out, all t'h sem t' you, ocifer tit-fer-helmet!)
If you'd had another pint you'd have been singing The Hedgehog Song.
Hobgoblin's a decent pint (their Ruby Ale), but King Slayer is even better (at 8% it's probably not wise to drink it like it's going out of fashion).
When I was younger and slimmer I did have the occasional crotch grab and arse grope at various night time venues - not entirely sure whether I was horrified or quite pleased 🤣
"David Gottfried is clearly a tiny little arrogant bald cunt with an over inflated opinion of himself and and the intellectual capacity of a blowfly. His IQ is probably something embarrassingly low....140 or thereabouts, if I'm being kind, so he can't really be expected to remain continent when things like elections don't go his way. He thinks that pursing his mouth like a cats arse in his profile pic will make people think he's a serious intellectual to be reckoned with, but he's wrong . He has no brains, no ideas, no arguments and no hope. His reign is over. He will eventually die sad and angry and alone in a gutter somewhere in a pool of vomit, and the only question the cops ask will be "Who's vomit was it?".
Ok. Seriously now.
I did that as deliberate tactic to put you on the other end of some Really Toxic Abuse. Have you ever been spoken to like that before? Did it make you see my point of view? Did it convert you to my way of thinking? Probably not. But that's how YOU come across to those who you disagree with, and similarly abuse.
Have a long look in the mirror mate, rethink your appallingly weak and uncivil ad homin arguments, realise how dim they make you look, and come back with something better. That would be welcome.
This is a place where civilised adults converse. This is a place where we appreciate Dr Rigger's discussions on everything from society to quantum mechanics, in a civil manner, except for his excellent profanity, which we all appreciate. This, above all, is not the place for raving about "Trump sucking dumb fucks".
If you can't do better, than be prepared for some serious equations.
Your Fuhrer, Mafia Don Donald Trump, said that Lynn Cheney should be shot, that he will grab women by the pussy, and his minions have said that Puerto Rico is nothing but garbage.
Very simply, your side has FORFEITED the right to respect, kindness or gentlemenly debate. I want to prove something to red state rabble: You think you are fierce fighters because of the record of confederate soldiers. We leftists can be just as murderous as you. And I hope we will descend upon the sickening South, diabolical Dixie, with the "Terrible Swift Sword" of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic." Some of us have religious feeling too, but we see things differently: We think that slavery and persecution are EVIL.
Dave Dave Dave...I'm an Australian. Trump is not my Fuhrer. I'm just one of billions of people around the world rejoicing at Trumps victory. To me, your bizarre raving about Confederate soldiers and terrible swords and battle hymns and WTF else is meaningless and silly and more than a bit unhinged.
But your other rhetoric about being murderous...well...that shows the true Dave to the world, eh? Trump supporters have forfeited the right to respect, as you see it, so now it's time for a bit of murder? That sounds a lot like Hitler from the 1930s. Do you hear yourself? Do you understand that nobody respects this toxic rhetoric? Do you not see that you've become what you purport to despise?
You come to people's dignified internet spaces and spray obnoxious abuse and talk of murder. You post links to your rant where you refer to me as a Trump sucking dumb fucker.
Its...errmmm...not a good look.
It makes you seem small, silly and dim. Think about how you present. Are you trying to persuade people to your point of view, or are you having a childish tantrum like a red faced 3 year old because you didn't get your way?
