The Mask of Sorrow

I see the morons are at it again.

It seems The Sacred Face Wraps of Science™ are making a resurgence.

One college in the US has re-introduced mask mandates.

I do, occasionally, try to keep my writing family friendly, but fuck me, when is this sheer cuntish cretinism ever going to end?

I despair, I really do.

If anything could be said to be “settled science” it’s this; the masks don’t work.

Nothing our governments did to “combat” covid worked.

Nothing.

Let me repeat that in big letters.

Next time you’re wondering whether you have enough left in the budget to be able to have a fried egg on that slice of toast, remember the BILLIONS your government spent achieving absolutely bloody nothing (except furthering their own totalitarian agendas).

I still haven’t been able to properly fathom whether it was just staggering ineptitude of almost inconceivable proportions on display from our governments, or some more corrupt and/or nefarious agenda at play, but the evidence leads me to lean towards the latter position rather than the former.

What more can I add to this “debate” that hasn’t already been said?

We’ve gone far beyond Clown World™ now.

I want to go back to the Nineties when movies like The Mask of Zorro were made. It’s a great remake with an awesome main love theme (4m 55s).

These were the days when women AND men dreamed of meeting that one special person they could give their lives to; to love, to protect, to share, and to grow old together, and to maybe have a few kids and grandkids along the way.

Such dreams are so passé today.

The star of the “live action” re-make of Disney’s Snow White probably best sums up the modern attitude.

The movie, which I understand is going to be re-named as Snow Off-White and the 7 non gender specific People of Average Height, isn’t about love. The actress who is going to play this exciting new character for the modern age describes the Prince in the original movie as a “stalker”.

It’s some time since I watched Snow White with my kids, but I think I must have missed some important plot points in the original.

She then goes on to say about her character :

She's not going to be saved by the prince, and she's not going to be dreaming about true love — she's dreaming about becoming the leader

Oh, I sooooo can’t wait to see the movie.

I’m going to treasure my Blu-Ray of The Mask of Zorro because in a few years it won’t be available on streaming services because of its blatant misogyny, or something.

The Nineties were the days when we had none of this crap. Different crap and, dare I say it, sweeter smelling crap in the main. When The Mask of Zorro was released, in 1998, we were looking forward to the new millennium with some degree of justified hope and optimism.

And now, in 2023, we’ve no idea what a woman is, and cover our faces with bits of useless cloth because we’re afraid of catching a cold. Everything, everywhere, is racist (and probably transphobic) and women aren’t even allowed to call themselves mothers anymore for fear of upsetting some hairy male goofball in a dress.

Right, I’m off to re-watch the perfect trio of Zeta-Jones, Banderas and Hopkins wreak havoc in another one of those things we’ve forgotten how to do properly; a movie
