It is a shame that your father and thousands of others were left alone to die by the incompetent "experts."
I'm not a virology expert or even a doctor, but I'm an intelligent rational human being and it took little time before I was calling bullshit on the Foe Pandemic.
My Mom and Dad were married in August of 1953. They had been married almost 52 years when Mom passed. Dad passed 15 months later. He was lost without her.
It's a sad reality of life. In giving our hearts to another we run the risk of having them broken - perhaps by death, perhaps by divorce. The "covidian" response would be to never love at all - in order to protect oneself from inevitable grief.
Thanks - much appreciated. I wish I could find the right words to properly express my feelings at this horror show. Hard to believe we've done so much, and achieved so little, all for a virus that sees off fewer than 3 in a thousand infected people overall.
You're welcome. I am glad I stumbled across your musings.
In the US, an affinity for the Europe of centuries ago shows itself in various Rennaissance Faires and Medieval Times venues throughout the country. It apparently extends out to LARPing the Bubonic Plague now too...
I'm sorry to hear about your father's death. Are there no politicians in similar situations, making them think? Or do they get special treatment?
Measures such as outdoors mask requirements might not work against Covid but they are so useful because compliance can be controlled. They are a kind of reverse Chesterton's fence: you see a fence, you don't know what it's good for, you have no idea how to destroy it, so you build an additional fence right in front of the first one and declare your fence indispensable.
I still miss the lovely old sod - although his last years were marred by dementia. At least he never lost his lovely gentle nature and his humour and joy - he was smiling and singing almost to the end. There are thousands, millions, of people all over the world just like him - ordinary, decent, human beings. They are the true heroes - the people we should look up to. Not the movie stars, or CEO's, or politicians.
If wishes were horses, beggars would ride. It looks like there is an amazingly large amount of the stumbling beggar in the currently(?) dominant human phenotype, unfortunately.
Thank you for this article. Today I had a heated discussion with my stepmother about my (or my son’s) vaccination status affecting her safety. HOW???? Amongst other things (passports- she couldn’t see an issue, I almost cried with indignation at how she couldn’t see the dangerous slippery slope that passports are the start of). I am so frustrated I want to cry! But your posts give me ammunition which I wouldn’t otherwise have, so thank you.

Outstanding essay on this horror show.
We're going to need a larger island than Elba on which to house those responsible for implementing these dehumanizing, freedom-destroying policies.

My Mom used to use that quote quite often. Seeing it reminded me of her. 😢 I'm glad someone else uses it in a public forum.
