It’s the perennial question isn’t it? Why? I mean, just WHY?
As a physicist I was sometimes told off by colleagues for focusing on the ‘why’. They argued that physics was about the ‘how’, not the ‘why’. It didn’t matter that nobody has the faintest idea why the universe seems to operate according to the rules of quantum mechanics, it was enough to be able to write down the equations and solve stuff (the ‘how’). To me this attitude seemed like an allegiance to magic. You cast the right spells and invocations, wrote these incantations down using arcane squiggles, and there be the Holy Mystic Answer.
The why has, over the last 3 years, returned with a vengeance.
Only this morning I read in my Twitter feed that some colleges in the US are requiring the bivalent booster shot as an attendance requirement. Bear in mind that if you’re unvaxxed you will need to have the full course of previous Goo before you can have the all-new mouse-powered super bivalent Goo1.
Why, just Why?
In the UK (and elsewhere) deaths ‘from’ covid were classified as death, for any reason, occurring within 28 days of a positive covid test. Even the BBC (the British Bollocks Creator), the OhShitWe’reAllGoingToDieWearTwelveMasksAndDon’tGoAnywhereNearGranny2 propaganda arm of the UK Government, had a banner running stating this throughout their reporting on the ‘pandemic’.
Why, just Why?
In the US, a government institution (of the people, by the people, for the people?), the FDA, wanted to hide clinical trial data for a drug that was pretty much mandated (in all but name) on its population, for anything up to 75 years.
Why, just Why?
There are, in my view, no good “innocent” answers to these questions (and so many more similar ‘why’ questions regarding the ‘pandemic’ response). It’s easy to speculate and generate all sorts of tin-foilish answers, much harder to actually come up with any fully plausible (innocent) reasons that don’t make you sound like a conspiratorial loon. At least with a tin foil hat you can see better than if you’re wearing blinkers. A less ‘conspiratorial’, but non-innocent, answer to many of these kinds of questions surrounding covid would be to think about the time-honoured advice of "“following the money”.

Why am I thinking about why today?
It’s because I have been pondering, again, the question of our age. No, not trying to figure out why including zero-point energy in cosmological models leads to an estimate that is something like 40 orders of magnitude out for the cosmological constant, or how to develop a unified approach to quantum mechanics and gravity, but the question of “what is a woman?”
We didn’t even know this was such a fundamental question until less than a decade ago. But WHY did we not know? Now, that’s a much more interesting question.
One of the articles of faith of Gender Religion (GR) is that “anyone who identifies as a woman IS a woman”. Some people actually believe this. We can speculate on who’s ‘pushing’ this absurdity upon us, and for what nefarious purpose4, but what’s fascinating is trying to figure out why otherwise decent and rational and intelligent people have succumbed to this dogma?
Reginald wakes up on Tuesday and realizes he’s a woman called Regina. On Thursday (probably after experiencing period pains) Regina decides she’s a man again. That 2 glorious days of self-identification, if we are to actually believe the dogma, means that for 2 whole days, Reginald actually WAS a woman, but is now back to being a man again.
Remember, some otherwise sane and rational people actually believe this shite.
It’s quite extraordinary.
Or consider the case of Norbert. His girlfriend decides to identify as a man. Norbert is now gay. It’s like conversion therapy that actually works.
The principal reason why such obvious bollocks is believed, in my view, is that these people are, actually, by and large, good people. They have been hoodwinked into believing the ‘compassion’ narrative. If a man identifies as a woman, it is the compassionate thing to do to go along with that, or so they are told.
Being seen as, and believing oneself to be, a good person is more important than any adherence to ‘truth’ or rationality, although this will largely be a subconscious imperative.
It leads to a kind of vicious feedback cycle. If I’m ‘good’, and ‘compassionate’, then the people who disagree with me must be ‘evil’ and lack empathy, right? It’s not that people like JK Rowling actually ARE nasty, horrible people, but they have to be seen that way in order to prop up this distorted sense of what is ‘good’ and ‘compassionate’. Again, this process will be operating largely at a subconscious level.
This sense of continually opposing a heinous enemy who will bring about all sorts of genocides and violence, just by being allowed to speak, further reinforces this self-image of the valiant and noble knight fighting against the forces of evil. You become gooderer.
Another factor, again reinforced in a feedback loop, is fear. You froth your righteous anger at these evil bigots and X-phobes5 and you feel the power and thrill of the wave of support as people are cancelled and vilified. But deep down, subconsciously, you’re absolutely shitting bricks in case the same thing happens to you. You’ve seen what it can do, how your moral crusade can destroy the lives of others. You gloried in that power but are deeply afraid of it being turned upon you. You cannot afford to step out of line and so you spout the latest doggerel, no matter how fucking stupid it is.
This will be denied (obviously), but this fear will be there, if not consciously then subconsciously.
This is why Wanky Wokery is so difficult to combat. It’s not really about rationality, it’s about morality and people’s desire to be, and to be seen as, moral. This is where we need to loosen the chains a bit. We need to attack this fallacious identification of woke = moral.
That is my ‘why’ answered for today, but now I’ve got to face the ‘how’ question. How the heck are we going to alter the course of the woke juggernaut and its misguided moral crusaders?

This passage used to call to mind, for me, the evil stepmother dressing up in rags and persuading Snow White to eat a poisoned apple or the big bad wolf knocking politely and asking to be granted entrance. Lately, though, evil has begun to look less like the big baddie with the "antagonist" written on his forehead.
