I don't think it was your Substack that said "I have learned more about human nature in the last two years than in the previous 47" but... yeah. The psychology is something to see. People who were OK with their unvaccinated kids hanging out with other unvaccinated kids when nobody's kids were vaccinated, now have vaccinated their kids but have become *genuinely afraid* of letting their kids hang out with unvaccinated kids now. Isn't... isn't the risk LOWER than it was before? How could it have been OK before and now it isn't? It's quite remarkable.

That's a brilliant comment David - a great insight.

It is the black-hole of weird what's happening with covid - it's just sucking every shred of life, rationality and plain old common sense into its gaping maw

The 2/47 was Paul Kingsnorth, I think.

One of my favourite films. I don’t think it’s meant to be uplifting, the thing is to see how the Nazis started off as figures of fun to the club and performers but as they became more powerful the club and performers moved alongside them in attacking the Jews, despite probably knowing that they would be the next victims but hoping not. The young lad singing “Tomorrow belongs to me” is a blood chilling moment.

It's a while since I last watched it. I think I should probably watch it again with fresh covid-inspired eyes :-)

The analogy being, maybe if I get jabbed, TPTB will like me, and let me get back to normal, please, not like those dirty unjabbed...

I can only imagine the disappointment of TPTB last year when the GOF Frankenvirus turned out to be much closer to the Bad Flu side of the spectrum than the Ebola/Bubonic Plague side. "Eff it, the show must go on," they figured, and boy did it! Never in a million years did I expect to see people lose livelihoods and now, potentially, their freedom for refusing to injected with what is at best a crappy, ineffective vaccine. But here we are...

I wonder if God is contemplating His own Great Reset after watching the performance of humanity.

If nothing of the horrors committed in the time before COVID managed to prompt God to enact a Great Reset, it isn't likely that this particularly bleak episode of mass insanity will.

Theologically speaking, however, it may be that life must be lived in a world abandoned by God if a person is ever to become genuinely virtuous. Indeed, in a world without God, the only thing that can truly matter is the fact of "how we live and love."

How many of us, I also wonder, will now rise to the occasion?

Excellent comment. The worldwide nature of what's happening, the lockstep march to totalitarianism has been a sight to behold. This is ultimately a fight between good and evil. God help us to endure whatever is coming our way.
