There are still people who hastily yank their masks over their faces as I approach them on the walking path. And I'm not even wearing my "Unvaccinated" sweatband, "Your Science is Superstition" t-shirt, Covid survivor ribbon, or bike shorts with "Contagious" printed upon the rear. (In fact, I only possess such things in the daydream in which I look down at myself and say, "Aha, THAT is why people are moving six feet away from me and putting on protective gear.")

I have contemplated bringing a clothespin and putting it on my nose when I approach such people on my walks, or perhaps blinders, combined with shouting out in a strangled voice, "Oh, God, NO!" when I see them approaching...but I guess it still won't do anything about the idiots in command.

Everything else is a sideshow. The real coup is the imminent WHO takeover of national sovereignty that all western governments have signed us up to. Without debate and without consent.

The current ceding of power to the WHO is both frightening and one more of the many "conspiracy theories" proven to be fact. I'd be far more comfortable if we ceded power to The Who with Roger Daltrey & Pete Townsend.

I remember reading Orwell's 1984 as a teenager (not in school) in the year 1984, and even then I never imagined the possibility that I could find myself living in such a dystopia. I later had a teacher who conducted an exercise. The class engaged in a series of votes and in the end over 80% of the class voluntarily voted themselves into slavery. Civics having already been transformed into Social Studies the class was largely ignorant of the limitations, functions, and dangers of government.

Unsurprisingly, keeping the masses in a state of ignorance is an effective means of control. The ignorant are easily fooled, inspired to hate, and driven to fear. I do not claim to be a world expert, but here in the USA our education system has been in a progressive state of decline for over 50 years. Considering the predominance of the dystopian Climate change narrative and policies in Europe I'd guess is not much better there.

Lincoln said “The philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next.” And for a hundred years, give or take, the continued implemetation of that axiom propelled the Western world into industrial and technological advances that were inconceivable. It seems clear to me that education is now, and has been for some time used as Stalin saw it. “Education is a weapon, whose effect depends on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed.”

Speaking for myself, I feel as though I'm looking into the barrel of a gun.

"It’ll work gooderer next time but only if we do it more, and faster, and harder." I recall seeing a video of Dan Andrews, the dictator from the Land of Oz, saying almost exactly this about lockdowns. The "harder, faster, and longer" bit from his speech sounded as if he were quoting his favorite porno flick. (I'm unable to find the speech now.)

Can’t do much right now. But those of us in the USA can get off our asses and vote Republican in the next congressional elections. It is the only existing way to try and change things short of revolution. And I’m sick of hearing the “both parties are the same” BS.

I admit that the republican leadership sucks, but they can be removed or at least influenced to do the right thing. The people below them and at the State level are better. We know that the dems suck and CANNOT and WILL NOT change.

I am tired of literally being afraid to look at the news headlines because I don’t want to read about what they are doing to us Today. And we have to deal with this shit for 2.5 years more. At least we can vote to slow it down.

If someone has another faster and more effective way to help fix things, I’m all ears...........

Here's me being an asshole:

Mjölnir is a hammer, not normally for poking holes.

I suspect you mean Gungnir, the spear.

“I have, myself, full confidence that if all do their duty, ... , we shall prove ourselves once again able to defend our Island home, to ride out the storm of war, and to outlive the menace of tyranny, if necessary for years, if necessary alone."

"..we shall fight on the seas and oceans,
we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be,
we shall fight on the beaches,
we shall fight on the landing grounds,
we shall fight in the fields and in the streets,
we shall fight in the hills;
we shall never surrender, and even if, ... , this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire ..., would carry on the struggle, until, in God’s good time ... to the rescue and the liberation of the old.”

As we imitate past mistakes (only 'betterer') and find ourselves segregated into islands of rationality, I thought of this quotation. We will need to be proficient in many things, but we will survive this maniacal evil.
