Transing Away The Gay

In an entirely unsurprising turn of events, Claudine Gay has transitioned from her role as Harvard’s president to become, merely, one of the tenured faculty. She’ll still be taking home a pay check that is the best part of a million bucks - so there’s no need to feel too sorry for her.

She joined Harvard in 2006 - so she’s been there for, what, nigh on 20 years. I don’t know what her starting salary was - but let’s assume that over that time period she was paid an average of $250,000. That’s 4 and half million in total for the 18 years she’s been there. During her time at Harvard she has published 6 academic papers.

Which works out at about 3/4 million dollars per paper.

I’ll just leave that back-of-the-envelope figure to sit there and mature like a vegan fart.

I do not know her. She may be a very lovely person and a brilliant lecturer or administrator (or both) - but by any reasonable academic standard she is a mediocrity. I should know - I’m one too (and my h-index is 26. If Gay has written 11 papers, then her maximum possible h-index is 11).

Of course, the usual fellow mediocrities, like the talentless twat Kendi, are leaping to her defence and blaming Wacism. But then Kendi is a one-trick pony, a hammer that sees only nails, because, for him, everything is Wacist. It’s only by being Wacist ourselves, or as Kendi puts it, anti-Wacist, can we solve the Wacism problem.

These are the dizzying intellectual heights reached by some of the most notable (or notorious, at any rate) academics.

Kendi is just a figurehead for a legion of similarly talentless twats who endlessly repeat the turgid mantra of Whitey is Wubbish.

Gay is just a symptom, the Kaposi’s sarcoma on the AIDS patient that is our universities. The immune systems of our universities have been well and truly fucked - by DIE, which itself is merely the consequence of a far greater disease.

You may recall an interview in which the musician John Mellencamp (white) made the claim to Bill Maher that only maybe 1% - 2% of black people in America today have it better than the black slaves of the past.

This utterance travelled through the great wormhole of stupidity into the galactic supercluster of WhatTheFuck.

I do not think Mellencamp is a moron, some barely functioning semi-sentient bag of custard. Indeed, he seems to be relatively intelligent. So how come he was able to make such an obviously stupid and deranged claim as this in all seriousness?

And therein lies the rub.

It’s fun to level the snark at a few public figures, but I’m endlessly fascinated by something I can’t explain.

Why do seemingly intelligent people believe such obviously stupid things?

It can only happen when your brain gets untethered from any sense of reality.

Orwell’s famous training manual novel gives one hint of how it may be done. He was warning us of the dangers of PoMoeing well before the deranged French kiddy- fiddlers started their philosophical claptrap in earnest.

It’s how we’ve ended up with some people genuinely believing the proposition that the sex binary was created by (white) colonialists as a way to oppress the (non white) colonized.

Something has poisoned our minds. Most of us have, of course, been immune to this kind of drivel - but far too many have not. And this kind of fuckwittery has taken hold across boardrooms, classrooms, courtrooms and parliament chambers (when they’re not being used to shoot gay porn videos).

We had a chance - and we were definitely getting there - but we blew it. Another person who had a dream uttered what are, for me, amongst the greatest words ever spoken by a human being.

How did we ever end up with these words being considered to be “racist” these days?

Just how?

What kind of mind-magic happened to pervert and corrupt the meaning of these great, great, words?

For bilious buffoons like Kendi, everything is about skin colour - and character be damned!

People like Gay and Kendi and the whole DIE edifice itself are, I think, just manifest symptoms of a much more pernicious and deadly disease.

One feature of this disease, and maybe it’s like the spike protein on a truly godawful virus, is this utterly corrupting notion of the oppressor/oppressed dichotomy. This way of viewing the world is utterly bereft of wisdom. It is utterly bereft of compassion. It is utterly bereft of spirituality. It is utterly bereft of intelligence.

It is demeaning and demented - and it leads to the kind of madness we see today.

The way this plays out is to pit one ‘class’ against another, to view some as worthy and others as less than human. It’s a sick and twisted way of looking at things - but it’s the primary way of looking at things - at least in the Studies™ departments of universities.

This disease will not be cured by getting rid of a few symptoms like Gay or Kendi or DiAngelo. Nor will it be cured by getting rid of DIE - although that would certainly lead to a massive improvement in quality of life.

I think we need to start again. Sack everyone. Make the re-hiring conditions solely merit based and have some kind of independent assessment of that hiring process. Some will be re-hired, but hopefully many will not - and more capable (and sane) academics will replace them.

It is but a pipe dream. In the death of the universities as they currently are, what dreams may come when we re-build?
