Have you noticed just how much less “grown-up” society appears to be getting? Have you noticed how so many government and official pronouncements seem to sound like a parent talking to their 3 year old?
If you’re a parent you’ve probably used similar techniques. “Jemima, I’ve told you once, I’ve told you twice, I’m not going to tell you again - do NOT try to play that peanut butter and jelly sandwich in the video player”
I know from expensive personal experience that sandwiches don’t play too well in a video player - and they don’t fast forward any better either.
The UK government’s much-used “Hands, Face, Space” mantra always makes me want to sing
Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes
Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes
And eyes and ears, and mouth and nose
Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes
We’ve been hectored, cajoled, and badgered by our governments like children. The level of personal risk we tolerate is no longer our choice - but their choice. And if governments get their way, what gets injected into our body will no longer be our choice - but their choice.
Like naughty children we’ve been told that the disease took hold because we behaved badly, we were naughty, and selfish, and so we must get sent to our room - and only be allowed out when we’ve apologised and can behave ourselves.
In a recent interview David Nabarro, the WHO’s special envoy on COVID said that vaccines should only be mandatory “as a last resort” in case of “absolute refusal.”
Really?
I’ve told you once, I’ve told you twice - you still refused - now hold the naughty bugger down while I go get the needle
I suppose we shouldn’t be too surprised. This infantilization has been rapidly increasing as a result of the pandemic of woke wankery we’ve been infected with over the last decade or so. Unfortunately there seems to be no cure, or even a vaccine for it. Come on Pfizer, you managed one, or at least something masquerading as one, for covid in a few months. Although this time could we have one that actually works?
Think I’m talking nonsense about the infantilization? Here’s a college in the US setting up what I can only think of as “crying rooms” in the wake of the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict (and notice the segregation too).
We’re talking about grown men and women here (and probably other undefinable things like non-binary gender-queer lunchboxes). We really should stop referring to college kids as “kids”. They’re not. They can fight and die for their country, they can raise kids of their own - they’re not kids at all - and they shouldn’t be treated like kids, either.
All we needed to do during this medically-minor pandemic (Sweden’s excess death over the last 2 years has not been remarkable) was to stay at home if we were ill. That’s it. We would have been so much better off if we’d done that - the adult, grown-up thing. And it should have been government’s role to facilitate that - put proper systems in place so that employers didn’t penalize ill people or suffer financially because of extra absence, and that employees didn’t feel financially pressured to “struggle on” when ill.
In England & Wales there are approximately 45 million people under the age of 60. The official figures for covid death are clearly inflated (deaths, for any reason, within 28 days of a positive test were listed as a “covid” death) - but even with these grossly overstated figures we find that 11,514 people under the age of 60 died of/with covid (from Jan 2020 to Oct 29th 2021).
That’s an absolutely whopping 0.0255% - or about 1 death for every 4,000.
Serious? Yes. Concerning? Yes. Bad enough to go completely insane and demand everyone get injected with an experimental drug? Not if you’re a grown up.
If you’re the sort of person who needs a crying room - then yes, you’ll probably be terrified - and want mommy and daddy government to do something.
