My thoughts exactly, in relation to the bridge. I would like to add, nor would I want to drive over said bridge if any of her disciples designed it. I would also not want to be around any buildings, roads, cars, airplanes, etc., designed by using any of her new profound math.
As to eating anything she cooks, I really doubt that she does cook. It would be demeaning to someone of her ultra genius status to actually perform manual labor.
At the risk of alienating some of the Below-The-Line commenters, could we have more maths please. Mathematics promotes rigorous, logical thinking which is one of the weapons we opponents of Covid malarkey have in our arsenal.
In my early career, I was a high school maths teacher (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, logarithms, etc., even slide rule – now that dates me!) and maths has a certain intellectual sex appeal. Mind you, I also doubled as an English teacher to exercise the other brain hemisphere.
What I like about your Substack blog is the finely balanced mix of hard stats and good writing – not to mention a seriously entertaining sense of humour (and with so much 'Woke Maths' around, and an abundance of 'Covid' lunatics, there is no shortage of targets). Maths aficionados are not all Nerds.
Thanks Phil - your support and encouragement is hugely appreciated
I think I write in this way to try to keep me (a little bit) sane - if I just focused on the absolute horror and seriousness of it all I think they'd be carting me off somewhere whilst wiping the drool off my face
I may do some more math/physics oriented pieces at some point - but I haven't found a way to tie in quantum mechanics to covid yet haha
I'm afraid you lost me on the maths, but as for Ms Gutierrez I just skipped her words of non-wisdom after the first few maningless phrases - not even worth attempting to understand her.
Yeah - sorry about the math thing - I still entertain the hope that I can get more people to see it as I do - a thing of great beauty and power. I usually just end up switching people off haha
Now, I know why I didn't go into math as a field of study. 😉
I "feel" we should ban the number 1, because "one is the loneliest number..." 🤣 Taking a bow for all the groans! (Great thanks to Three Dog Night! <--They were a band.)
In regards to the 2 loonie toons quoted: 🤪🤤
And thanks to Diana for saying exactly what I was thinking about bridge design with people like these in our future.
And unrelated to this article...Our US House of Representatives approved a bill yesterday that will probably lead to Vaxx Passports. It now needs to go to our Senate for the vote. Please pray for this bill to be voted down by the Senate. We need all the help we can get. No country deserves this put upon them and I pray for all people around the world to be free from all tyranny, including medical.
Back in the day I left science for anthropology. I excelled at writing this post-modern crapola-- my goal was not to make sense, but make no sense at all, intelligently. It was fun, but sad, as academia became the poorer for it: their studies and the loss of a fantastic white male archeologist. So I'm sort of a head surgeon now. Funny how these progs check their priv at my door, wanting to make sure I know my stuff. Western sciencey stuff. Not unwashed, native shamanee stuff.
God I hate these people. Even in the 90's they were attacking F=MA, because 'force was a patriarchal construct'.
I don't think I would enjoy eating a batch of cookies baked by Ms. Gutierrez, let alone trust driving over a bridge she'd designed.

I'm sorry! I believe that my comment about "her" cooking should read, "she," as I don't know "her" gender identity. 🙄
too much work let me just say math is racist
haha - yes I apologize. I love physics and maths and do have a tendency to provoke coma in my readers and listeners!
The tragedy is that they are actually proud of their abject ignorance. Deluded by the smallness of their intellects.

This may be a bit of a digression, but maybe not (if one is fascinated by the interplay between human cognition and reality):

Another interesting lecture by Dennett (i.e., on brilliant design without intelligence (or intention)):

Enjoy!
