Why do you get so upset at people just living their life? What is it to you? How does it affect you?
We’ve all heard that kind of thing in ‘defence’ of the LGBWTF crew.
We’re told we have some kind of ‘obsession’ over genitalia and that there are more important things to worry about.
In Calipornia we’ve recently seen how that plays out (of all places, eh? What a surprise!). I had the misfortune to watch, on Twitter𝕏, the first few seconds of a video taken at a Pride event in San Francisco this year. I think it might have been from that well-known stochastic terrorist LoTT.
You had a guy kneeling in a kids paddling pool performing oral sex on another guy who then urinated in the kneeling guy’s mouth. In public.
Apparently, I’m not supposed to be concerned by that. It’s just people living their ‘best’ lives, right?
From one instance of public vulgarity to another
FUCK THIS SHIT
Pride needs to be done and dusted. It has warped beyond all recognition from its necessary beginnings as a way to secure rights and acceptance for gay people, which I fully support, into something quite hideous and disturbing.
I appreciate that the vast majority of Pride events are not like this (perhaps we could say “mostly family friendly” CNN-style?) but we need to ask why something like this (and many other examples over the years of wholly inappropriate public behaviour during Pride) could happen at all?
Were these guys proud of themselves? Were they proud that kids could see their wanton display? Did they think they were on the side of right?
And why on earth should I “celebrate” this?
I honestly don’t care what these guys might get up to in the privacy of their own homes. It’s not my cup of pee, and they can do what they like to each other there, in whatever fashion best suits them.
But public sex, whether it be from alphabet people or non-alphabet people, is not acceptable.
It’s an exception! Of course it is. But that’s not the point. The point is that things have shifted so drastically that some people do indeed think this kind of thing is totally acceptable.
Can you imagine this happening during the Pride marches of 50 years ago? Or even, perhaps, 20 years ago?
This kind of thing is what the “queering” of society means. It’s the outright destruction of all social “norms” which are seen as oppressive and wrong.
This, then, isn’t just about ‘tolerance’ and letting people live their lives. It affects all of us. We need to ask ourselves whether the “queering” of society is a good or a bad thing. Does a worldview largely untethered from reality, or from accepted norms, represent the kind of progress that’s good for us?
Is it a good thing that, golden showers notwithstanding, we’re being rainbow-showered with all sorts of weird shit?
Sticking a plunger on Dobbin’s head doth not a unicorn make
When I’ve finished writing this I’m off to vote in the UK general election. It might seem like a small issue, but I definitely can’t vote for a party led by a guy who doesn’t appear to know what a woman is.
If he can be confused about something this basic, why on earth should I accept what he says about an infinitely more complex matter, like climate change?
Keir Starmer thought that some women had penises until he asked Tony Blair who set him straight, apparently. More likely the nasty hobgoblin told him it would lose him votes if he continued to insist that frocks not cocks were the important things in deciding what a woman is.
In all likelihood we’ll end up with a Foreign Secretary, David Lammy, who thinks that men can get cervixes installed like double glazing.
Lammy, a black guy, is famous for turning the white vs black smoke during a Papal election at the Vatican into a racial issue. It must be all that lived experience and wotnot that has made him able to spot such egregious racism.
Why should I ever listen to what he has to say about racism? Just coz he is black?
Then we’ve got “sharp as a tack” Biden, the Cabbage-in-Chief of the US, on whose behalf the media has consistently lied
Having someone in full possession of their faculties when that person also has control over a nuclear arsenal is a social ‘norm’ we definitely don’t want to be queering is it?
Whilst it’s not, strictly, an example of “queering” as such, we can view the upending of established social norms during covid in a similar vein. Almost overnight our whole perspective on disease and what to do about it seemed to radically shift.
It was a “queering” that has brought only harm and no benefit whatsoever.
They’re still trying to play the same game with the whole “Bird Flu” shit.
Just because some historical social ‘norms’ were definitely not good does not mean that all social norms are bad things.
The fact that some plants are edible does not mean that all plants are edible.
The upending of social norms, just because they’re norms that some people object to, is not a good idea.
I’m sure Miss Alabama is a lovely lady, a great person. But we should not be celebrating what is a desperately unhealthy lifestyle. She should be a role model, not a roll model.
Right, I’m off to “Fuck this shit” by trying to cast a vote that might upset the ‘system’
"What exactly is this Gay Pride hoping to achieve anyway in metropolises where being able to call yourself gay is already a minor fashion statement? Why not quit while they are ahead; like a 500% over-representation in the creative and media industries and in the ‘opinion-forming’ classes generally. Being a ‘gay couple’ is absolutely your fast-track route to getting yourselves on any show on British tv. There are places in the hippest parts of London and New York where angst filled teenagers bury their faces in their pillows crying “why couldn’t I have been gay, like all my friends are?” Ok maybe not that often......" https://www.takimag.com/article/straight-talk/
People have a nasty habit of thinking that the polar opposite of a thing is a solution to the thing. But this kind of overcorrrection is no more helpful than when one steers into an oncoming vehicle at 70 mph to avoid hitting a deer.
Pride is an overcorrection. And very few of us who argue against it are claiming that hitting the deer is a good thing.
