So much of the pronoun thing is imagined 'virtue' signaling. I've been on phone meetings that start with 7 to 8 people telling their pronouns. Why not just use names?
What really throws people for a loop is identifying my pronouns as, "I, Me, Mine."
It is as if, the MK-ULTRA experiments were being run, on a global scale. Are "they" spiking the water and food supply with hallucinogens? How could so many be so ridiculous and not see the insanity them/they/their herd (slice?) of lemmings clamoring to be the first over the cliff.
The amazing thing about the pro-pronounists is that they can dismiss any and all logic (and the kind of wise counsel contained above) with one very useful made-up word: cisgender. Does another word exist that so shamelessly nullifies and mocks reality? They will not listen if you deny their concept; if you accept their concept, you cannot help them.
All of this gender stuff is from an amplified (by social media) minority. It's not as widespread as they make it out to be and is really just there to keep people upset.

The choice of pronouns as battle ground is a corollary of the specifics of the language (English). In German, the combatants are meeting on a different ground, namely gender-specific endings: in the good old times, "Lehrer" (singular = plural) used to denote both male and female (and whatever) teachers. Now you have to write "Lehrerinnen und Lehrer" or "Lehrer und Lehrerinnen" (no, better avoid this) or "LehrerInnen" or "Lehrer:innen" or "Lehrer_innen" or "Lehrer*innen". And say "Lehrer [short break, time to think about the evils of patriarchy] innen".
