My memory might have been impaired, like an immune system given a shitty ‘vaccine’, by the long-alcohol symptoms I’ve experienced after the festive period. But I do seem to recall saying that 2023 would probably get even weirder.
In 2023 we already know (allegedly) that gas stoves cause asthma. What we know is that some Experts™ did some associative ‘study’ and came up with a crappy conclusion. But it’s work that fits the narrative : anything except ‘green’ energy = bad.
William Briggs does his usual excellent job of demolishing these inane ‘studies’.
But racing ahead in a clear lead so far is the announcement from the School of Social Work at the University of Southern California.
I suspected, and still do, that this is a troll. Some extreme hoax parody designed to mock the new social justice astrologies. It’s simply too bonkers to be true. It’s too crazy. It couldn’t possibly be true.
Well, it does appear to be true - at least according to a few online news sources, one example of which can be found here.
I think people are going to have a practicum day over this. Hollywood actors were quick to recognise the importance.
with some going over their back catalogue of works
Science, too, is responding. Electrons are now going to be said to generate an electromagnetic practicum. And even Einstein’s work, the great practicum equations of General Relativity, is not immune.
Musicians are rising to the challenge and it is rumoured that Sting’s classic is going to be re-recorded
What is, perhaps, more interesting is what in the name of the holy underpants of Zaphod Beeblebrox is going through the minds of some folk? Assuming, of course, that this particular memo is actually genuine - which I still can’t actually believe.
Do these people look at a beautiful field, maybe glowing in the setting sun, and think “slavery”? What kind of messed-up head do you have to have for this to be your immediate thought?
It’s like those people who hear the word ‘monkey’ and immediately get all offended by the inherent racism they imagine exists in the mere usage of this word. One can only assume that nature has been somewhat niggardly in their supply of active neurons.
I was going to try to write more, maybe surprise everyone with a bit of in-depth analysis, but my “please, Lord, make this stop” meter broke when I read about this and I need to get it fixed.
It seems you just can't cotton on to it...
Imagine how I feel
