Just a short note to encourage you to have a look at the article here.
The article takes a look at how things have developed in Sweden over the last 2 years. It’s mostly charts - but a picture paints a thousand spikes, or something.
I’ll just draw your attention to the last chart
This is a chart of actual mortality (absolute numbers) vs expected mortality based on historical average and based upon seasons rather than years (the correct way to look at this). I don’t think it’s age, or population, adjusted - so things might shift a fraction here and there. The last chunk is for the the 2021/2022 season which isn’t over yet.

Where is it? Where’s this supposedly “deadly and unprecedented” thing that has caused us to Pfuck up economies and societies the world over? Like visitors round the bed of a person dying in UK hospitals these last couple of years - nowhere to be seen.
This is consistent with the recent report which showed very strikingly how Sweden has fared in comparison
One interesting thing to note is that, according to Our World in Data, Sweden is 73% “fully vaccinated” - just slightly ahead of the UK on 69%. I’m not sure how this is consistent with the notion that vaccination is leading to a rise in all-cause mortality - something I’ve speculated about previously. It’s a puzzle.
It is probably associated with their relatively relaxed approach to covid restrictions (Lunatic-Lite™). No lockdowns, or mask mandates, schools open pretty much throughout. By not losing their freaking minds the Swedes may have allowed the virus to circulate in a safer way - if you’re going to get infected it’s better to be hit with a lower viral load. Viral load is a decent proxy for serious outcomes. If you get hit with a bucket load of virus even strong natural immunity is going to struggle.
But I don’t know. What I do know, however, is that the example of Sweden is quite sufficient to lay waste to the idiocy of the restrictions employed elsewhere. Sweden takes a Viking drinking horn to the covid fear-porn merchants and shoves it where the sun doesn’t shine.
