It really hurts when I laugh. What should I do?
Doc : Stop laughing
One of my favourite silly “doctor, doctor” jokes. Along similar lines :
Patient : Doctor, doctor. I broke my arm in three places. What should I do?
Doc : Stop going to those places
The Morgan Freeman version of this quote is :
The endless obsession with race, oppression, colonialism, lived experience, and your position on the intersectional scoreboard of suffering is making us unwell.
It’s like we’ve taken a step back 5 decades or more when some folk really did think it was OK to have separate places and facilities for those ‘problematic’ black folk. Except now it’s the white folk who are ‘problematic’.
What am I supposed to make of the thoroughly racist remarks from a BBC presenter reported in London’s Evening Standard a day ago?
Racism is like a cockroach; you think you’ve killed the bugger only to find it’s back and it has kids. Lots of the little fuckers.
Thanks woke people. You’ve really made things ‘better’ for us all.
Intersectional arseholes.
The woke of today be like
It’s the start of advent today and I’m putting the Christmas decorations up. I love Christmas and what it represents. The season of goodwill and joy to all and sundry - when we try to remember what it is to be human. Or we try to remember the good bits about our humanity - and the things that draw us closer to one another. It’s a time to remember that our differences are tiny compared to the things we have in common.
In my advent calendar the windows represent things like love, honour, compassion, laughter, family, work and play, dignity, community, and so on - the good things we might all share as human beings.
What’s in the woke advent calendar?
Systemic racism
Toxic masculinity
White privilege
Colonialism and a decolonization kit for beginners (courtesy of Hamas)
Radical mastectomies and how to love your scars
Generational trauma
Marginalization
Oppression and how to claim it for yourself
A new set of weird pronouns
Rape culture
White fragility
Cultural appropriation
Queering your kids
Hatred of the Western cultures and traditions
Rejection of logic as “whiteness”
Lived experience (which only seems to matter when it’s bad)
Puberty blockers
Some new headmates
Cancel culture
A TERF with their fucking face punched in
A set of microaggressions
Pieces of a broken statue and some looted Nike trainers
Membership of Antifa
An aborted baby Jesus
All wonderful, positive, uplifting stuff.
Although the woke claim to be about things like “justice” and “compassion” and so on - we can see by their actions they’re only interested in the appearance of those things rather than the things themselves.
It’s how we can get a BBC presenter thinking he’s saying the “right thing” when he complains that most of the people around him have a different skin colour and, further, that this negatively impacts his mental health!
It’s a tired old trope, but still true nevertheless, that we only need to ‘invert’ some comment to see how truly racist it is. Can you imagine someone saying “It’s really affecting me that I walk in and all I see is black people”?
You’d quite rightly think, what the fuck?
I’m going to forget this now - and pretend it hasn’t thoroughly depressed me. It’s the start of Christmas, after all.
I’m looking forward to putting my drag queen Santa on the tree
With that woke advent calendar list, it really brings home why there is so much depression and mental health issues besetting the world at the moment.
I'm so glad I steer clear of social media and just read a limited selection of websites and substacks. Moreover how do people manage to spend so much time on social media getting angry and depressed - don't they have any work or household chores to do?
"Can you imagine someone saying “It’s really affecting me that I walk in and all I see is black people”?"
Well, yes, easily - since I've said that and similar things on many occassions.
In Sweden, nowhere you go should have a majority non-swedish non-white demography, but in at least 50 areas the percentage of swedes living there is 30% or lower. Zero percent in some areas even, despite the definition of "swedish" used in official record-keeping has been changed several times in the last twenty years to hide reality.
If I went to Tokyo and saw that every third person was a chasidic jew I'd proably comment on that too, or going to Jerusalem and seeing only pale-faced freckled red-headed irishmen.
Or going to London and wondering: "Where are all the english at?" for that matter. Imagine Mekka choc-full of polynesians in traditional garb - well worth a comment, no?
"A tiger!? In Africa!?"
