Call Optimus Prime, Omicron has Arrived

We should be terrified. This new variant has bigger knobs on its spike protein, or different coloured knobs, or more knobs - or something. Maybe it is a progressive spike protein and has a whole spectrum of knobbishness.

Just as they wanted, it’s harder than Wesley Snipes, faster than Usain Bolt, and more transmissible than government propaganda. It was the answer they were praying for. After all, people were starting to become much less fearful, they were doing normal things again, not wearing masks, and oh my oh my oh my oh my oh my oh my oh my oh my God - the desire for the Holy Ejaculate of Pfizer was showing signs of beginning to wane.

This disastrous lack of fear and compliance had to be stopped. Thanks to prayers to St Cactus Flowerpot-Head, patron saint of pricks everywhere, along came Omicron, and the government program of fear and coercion, like Pfizer’s profits, was saved for Christmas.

Our Pfizerment government came up with this gloriously bonkers argument which I only slightly paraphrase here : we think this new variant might escape the vaccines - so it’s important to get your booster shots

Can’t people see they’re being played here?

After more than 20 months of relentless government propagandistic fear-porn, here’s what I hear/see whenever a government spokesperson talks about covid:

Here’s what governments should have been saying :

“It’s a manageable serious illness which affects a very small percentage of people. Most people are at very low risk. Keep calm and things will be OK”

Instead, what we got was :

Creepy and clownish messaging - designed to scare and subjugate, not calm and inform.

We had the seriously creepy “Look them in the Eyes” campaign in the UK, which showed pictures of dying people (actors, I hope), and tried to guilt-trip you into believing you were the next John Wayne Gacy unless you did absolutely every absurd measure the government were imposing on you. Look them in the eyes and tell them you did everything you could.

Damn, I didn’t do this :

How many people did I kill by not doing everything I could?

Kids were told they might be responsible for killing Granny, if they didn’t follow the rules. What sort of sick and twisted low-life puts this kind of thing on kids?

Our government, that’s who. You definitely wouldn’t put these sick freaks in charge of a kid’s party would you? But we’re OK with them running the country?

Now, in the UK, we have 2, or maybe 3, cases of the OhMyGod Omicron variant and this has “panicked” the government enough to re-introduce compulsory masks again (because masks work, don’t you know? And damn near everyone is vaccinated, but we still needs masks, because science).

Panicked? Haha - pull the other one, it’s got spike proteins on.

Back when this medically-minor pandemic started there was an elephant in the room; it was the elephant of the IFR. Covid19 was only ever going to be an unremarkable pandemic in the history of pandemics. We knew that - and yet we did all this grotesque stuff out of wholly unwarranted and disproportionate fear (people were afraid, governments were not).

Now there’s a fucking Brontosaurus in the room. Most people vaccinated. Most people exposed to covid19 (and therefore have natural immunity). And we’re STILL acting like this virus is Ebola? God help us all.
