In 2016 the British public were polled. No, not Brexit, but about the naming of a new polar research vessel. The name chosen, overwhelmingly, by the naughty natives was Boaty McBoatface.
The vessel itself was eventually named the Sir David Attenborough although they did name one of the ship’s submersibles with the winner of the poll
This kind of irreverence has been a welcome feature of “the internet” since its inception. A few years ago, before all the new AI chat programs of today, Microsoft created an AI persona for people to test. It was a teenage girl persona, apparently, and could respond and learn to input. By the end of the first 24 hours this persona had been trained by the internet wags to put out the most amazing comments - some deeply ‘unpleasant’ stuff actually - but, by God, it was hilarious.
Needless to say, the experiment was hastily pulled.
This kind of stuff is, of course, somewhat frowned upon by the joyless woke clods who wish to police our thoughts and opinions and our humour. Internet trolls are despicable to these insufferably turgid grey-sludge turd burgers - whereas the rest of us just enjoy the invention and the piss-taking.
Who can forget the classic real-life troll of the posters that went up declaring “It’s OK to be white”? The joyless woke buffoons got all hot and bothered over this - and, yes, our dim-witted plod “investigated” this as a potential hate crime. Which was rather the point of the troll.
And also let’s not forget the OK symbol as a white supremacist “dog whistle” - a classic 4Chan troll - that many morons fell for.
I’ve fallen for some too - because much woke is indistinguishable from parody. The genuine woke turds of wisdom cannot be reliably distinguished from outrageous piss-taking these days. The suggestion, for example, that the sex binary was ‘created’ by nasty whitey as a means to oppress the noble queer people of alternative hue is a genuinely held belief by some - and not the parody it really ought to be.
I learned today that there is some hope. We haven’t lost our touch - at least STEM students haven’t.
If you want a really good laugh, for all the right reasons, then take a peek at this piece from Fox News.
Some “researchers” at Oregon State University asked students to fill out a survey. The survey was on, surprise, surprise, LGBTQWERTY issues. I’m not quite sure what they expected, but I’m pleased to report that the engineering and computer science students did not let us down.
These insufferably turgid grey-sludge turd burgers masquerading as “researchers” were horrified at the responses and adapted their paper accordingly.
The paper was published in BATS.
Yes, really. The Bulletin of Applied Transgender Studies
You really can’t make this stuff up, can you?
You see, some students did not take the survey at all seriously.
Oh my. Shock! Horror!
The woke tits writing this “paper” described these as “malicious” responses and claimed that “fascist ideologues” are
living ‘inside the house’ of engineering and computer science
Oh no - not fascist ideologues. Goodness me. Those naughty STEM types, eh?
What did they say that managed to get the researchers’ rainbow knickers in a twist?
From table 2 of the paper
I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve been laughing my arse off this morning. These wonderful students have really brightened up my day. Thank you, you beautiful, magnificent, STEM folk.
Racial/Ethnic Identity : my skin is blue, I think I might be a smurf
There are more - although a special mention must go to the student who described their gender as
Quasi-demi-pony; bankai-released state queercopter with a hint of faggotdrag lesbian and homosexual upside-down Frappucino cake
Fabulous stuff.
But it got even funnier. The “researchers” were not pleased at all.
I think I’ve just cracked a rib from laughing too much.
Is there anything more indicative of the times in which we live, I wonder? The baked- in fragility of these clowns is both hilarious and depressing.
The really depressing thing is how seriously they take themselves, and how seriously they are taken by most of our institutions. They really need to get over themselves - and society desperately needs to get over them, too. We’ve indulged these pillocks for far too long.
When I see stuff like this and Boaty McBoatface, or ‘too soon’ memes about the Titan submersible disaster, I know I’m looking at joyful, creative humanity at its irreverent finest. Yes, it is sometimes in bad taste and in some cases there are a few people who should be protected from it (the families of the Titan deceased, for example) but 99% of the offence taken in such cases comes from people’s guilt about their own prejudices, I’m sure.
And just as the most violently anti-gay people have often turned out to be closet homosexuals, I’m convinced that the vehemently ‘anti-hate’ people are those with hate in the heart. In fact, I think it is routinely evident in what they say and how they say it.
This Puritanical tsunami we’re experiencing at the moment is probably a huge case of societal shadow projection and these people need to sit down with a therapist who can get them to look inwards instead of out.
Reading the linked Foxnews.com article, I see that in addition to the various helicopters and fighter jets, one student identified as a V-22 tiltrotor. I’d’ve thought the researchers would be appreciative of someone who queers the oppressive fixed-wing/helicopter binary by showing it’s really a spectrum.
